The Role of Ion Exchange Resins for Solving Biorefinery Catalytic Processes Challenges

چکیده

Different possible applications of ion exchange resins in the framework biorefinery catalytic are discussed this article. Three case studies were selected for approach, connected to three main routes biomass upgrading: syngas upgrading high-value chemicals, hydrolysate upgrading, and direct oily fraction. The tailored acidic properties these materials, as well their stability presence water, have made them promising catalysts such obtaining biodiesel from activated sludge wastes batch reactors polyoxymethylene methyl ether (via formaldehyde methylal, working a continuous fixed bed reactor). However, acidity materials may still be too low acid-catalyzed aldol condensation reactions aqueous phase.
